Transitional Dressing

Now you may have already read the post on the new season’s must haves (If not click on Menu, My Wish List) where I talk about ubiquitous animal print.  Well you either love it or hate it, so if you’re in the later camp there are plenty of other wearable themes that will be populating our high streets for the next few months.

I started to change-up my closet with the addition of a pair of waisted, tailored pants, above.  I bought these on sale, similar here here here and here I won’t be giving up my jeans or my leather pants but I do think that the tailored cropped pant is looking modern again…or perhaps I just stopped wearing as I don’t go into an office on a regular basis 😉  This style of pants suits a belt to maximize your waist, if you’re lucky enough to have one, I’m wearing a plain black one, similar here but clearly there are many cheaper options readily available.

For this look I’ve paired the pants with a patterned silk blouse, from Zadig but from eons ago.  This season’s version here  Any kind of blouse will work, but I chose a feminine style to off-set the masculine cut of the pants.  Clearly I’m still in sandals but as soon as the temperatures drop a little I’ll be digging out my boots!

My bag is a classic from Zadig et Voltaire, this time I’ve picked a bigger model, exact here as I needed the space for travel documents etc.  The trend is definately towards bigger bags.  I’ll be topping this look off with a blazer, I like these here and here and here or a biker style leather here  I have these styles already, and I expect that you have too.  My tip for buying leather is to get the best that you can afford.  I soft leather Perfecto will serve you for all your adult life.

For my second look I’ve switched the blouse for a more structured shirt style, this one is old, but the same style in a  similar animal print is available this season here  I’ve used a leopard print to demonstrate that you should not be afraid of mixing grey and black with brown and tan.  In my opinion the mix is effective and breaths understated style.  To emphasise the point I’ve added a tan belt here and here  and I will do the same with boots soon.

My gladiator sandals are my go to footwear for a few more weeks, these ones are from Valentiono, scored in the sale YAY!!!, I like these ones here

The message not to forget is to look at what you have in your closet first and then hit the shops, or the keyboard, with a list of the items that you need to refresh what you already have.

That’s it for now folks, thanks for stopping by.  Hugs, Sarah x

New Season Must-haves

You all will have realized by now that this A/W life without animal print will be life in the Siberia of the fashion world ;O  I defy anyone of you to tell me hand on heart that you have not noticed our high street shops masquerading as zoos or safari parks!  Personally I’ve been a bit of a fan for years.  In fact leopard has become a neutral in my closet.  For those of you less certain of the charms of animal print here are a few tips on how to make the trend classy not trashy.

I print scarf is a failsafe method of buying into the trend.  I’m wearing a multi-print scarf from Zadig in the top picture, similar here and here and here and a more reasonably priced one here .  The secret is to buy one that is soft and looks luxurious.  Believe me once you’ve tried animal print you’ll never want to stop.

Another way to add a touch of animal magic is to select a bag.  This one is from http://www.the_bias_cutcom here and there are many more to choose from, snake print being one of the poular choices here Your own preferences will not be hard to find I promise you, many of the high street favs such as Zara, Topshop, River Island are awash with choice.

Another way to harness animal fever is to chose pieces that are in your favorite colors like the above shirt for those who love blue here or this from Zara in khaki here or just go the whole hog like I did below!

Crushing On…All things Boho!

So when the sun comes out so does the boho babe in me…

Processed with MOLDIV

When the sun comes out and all those summer activities begin…music festivals, barbeques, beach~parties, garden~parties… my style veers towards the boho.  Fringes, beads, hats, scarves and even long droopy silhouettes.  I grew up in the era of Universal Love {Whatever happened there then?} and the vibe is still with me.

Above I’m wearing THE blouse of this season ;O here with patchwork boyfriend jeans, similar here and here My belt is from a few seasons ago but still looks fresh with this look, I LOVE this one from Rebecca Minkoff {on sale!} here and would wear it on repeat, and this rope one would look good with this look here

The fringe bag is also old, but there are lots of similar ones around…I like this one here and here and this one is a classic here

When the weather heats up a little my next style challenge will be a maxi dress…watch this space!

Thanks for dropping by my lovelies, enjoy your weekends, Sarah x

A pretty cotton blouse is a ‘must have’ for me to transition my harder edge Rock Chic winter persona into the softer Boho style that I favor in the summer months…This one is from Isabel Marant’s Etoile collection here another that I like is from River Island here I will wear this top, if it ever stops raining ;( with blue, here  or here  white here  or here  or pink jeans here here and here and tan accessories….er did I mention that I’m currently obsessed with tan or cognac color boots, bags and belts ;O…I think I might have 😉

see by chloe tan bag

On my Lust List I have this gorgeous number from See by Chloe, the more affordable little sister brand to Chloe but still an investment buy here others I like, this little boho fringed number here and this woven straw here The boots that I adore are these ones from Zadig (Ha ha no surprises then!) here but these more affordable ones would be acceptable here and here ;D and some belts that caught my eye (though I wouldn’t wear boots, belt and bag at the same time…too matchy, matchy for me) here or this rope and leather one is more affordable here

So now I’ve got that little obsession off my chest I think I need a lie down in a darkened room ;O!!!  Thanks for dropping by my friends, Sarah x
